Comparison between the Philippine and French education systems

The Philippine education system is in the process of reform which will make it more aligned with international systems and standards; its complete implementation is expected by 2017. The K to 12 Program covers Kindergarten and 12 years of basic education.

Notes on the Philippine system

  • Upon the successful completion of four years of High School, Filipino students obtain a High School Diploma. To be accepted into a university or college, they must pass the entrance examination of the school of their choice

  • Some undergraduate degrees such as Architecture and Engineering require five (5) years of completion

  • Master's degrees may be completed either full-time (between 1.5 to 2 years) or part-time (may take between 5-6 years)

At present, there are no officially recognized equivalences between French and Philippine degrees
