My French experience in one word?
«Croissance» (growth)
“Working on a developmental biology project,
I see this word (croissance), nearly every day. It has led me to reflect on the deliberate choice I made to do research in this dynamic city, Toulouse.
Here, there are not a lot of Filipinos and the research culture is entirely different from that of back home. On one hand, I can be anyone I want; but on the other, I am constantly challenged to come out of my shell — be it in learning new lab techniques, in meeting different people, or even in using the French language ‘in the wild’.”
“My experience in France has definitely provided me with incredible professional and personal growth, and it will definitely shape the way I do research when I return home to the Philippines after this project!”
👨🎓 William is a researcher at the Université Toulouse III - Paul Sabatier and the Institut national de la recherche agronomique (INRA) in Toulouse, working on root development and how symbiotic signaling molecules affect it (He says that it's awesome!)
